Fresh Firestick apps for 2021 you didn't know about

Firestick app store has thousands of apps to choose from. But, it can be difficult to pick which one to download.

That’s why we’re here, from Smart DNS Proxy and in this video, you’ll find the best free apps for Firestick that are absolutely fresh and little-known.

Of course, we won’t be talking about apps such as YouTube, Kodi, Netflix, etc. We’ll focus on some little-known apps that you may have not heard of before.

Also, we would like to make it very clear - in this video we'll not include illegal movie streaming apps and other are quite popular on YouTube. At Smart DNS Proxy, we only cover high quality, premium content. Let’s go.

APKUpdater

APKUpdater is an open source tool (you can find the apk from GitHub) that simplifies the process of finding updates for your installed apps.

It lets you directly install of updates for sources that support it; it aggregates the results from APKMirror, Aptoide, F-Droid and Google Play.

To get started, first, enable installation from Unknown Sources on your device.

Ensure you have ADB debugging enabled, next install the app (you can find the apk in the description of the video), next you will have to sideload the apk from your phone to Firestick using apps such as Easy Fire tool. We have a detailed video on how to install apps on your Firestick from phones. You will find a link to that in the YouTube cards.

Next, install, the Apk Updater and start the application, it’ll show you the list of the apps installed on your Firestick. The icon under the app shows which source it’s going to pull the update from.

In our testing, you need to turn off Play Store updates, to make this apps works, which makes sense since the app is coming from Android TV and there’s no app on Play Store for Firestick.

Go to settings, if you are doing this on a Firestick/Amazon device then turn off Play Store

Moving on.

Wolf Launcher

Moving on, we have Wolf Launcher. It’s one of the best third-party launchers for Fire TV devices.

It lets you customize almost every aspect of your home screen experience that isn’t possible on the stock Fire TV launcher. You may not only organize your favorite apps on the home screen the way you want (for example, you can change the background wallpaper, resize the app tiles, adjust columns, or group apps in folders) you can do pretty much everything on Wolf Launcher. In addition, you can hide apps and protect app folders with a password.

Moreover, you also get rid of Amazon’s sponsored apps and banners from the default user interface.

To install, first, enable ADB debugging and Apps from Unknown Sources.

Next, you need to install a Launcher Manager - this is an addition that we'll need to set Wolf launcher as a homescreen app. Once done, install the latest version of Wolf Launcher. Once both are installed, go to the Launcher Manager and select Wolf Launcher from there.

Antstream

Next up, we’ve got a very interesting app for you.

Antstream is a retro gaming application that lets you play hundreds of games on your preferred streaming device.

But, and it’s a big one, unlike other gaming apps such as RetroArch, Antstream does not require you to download the game itself.

Simply, on the home screen of your device, hover over the Find option and click Search. Search for Antstream and install it.

You need to create a free email account either from your PC or Firestick. 1 year of free subscription, could change in future.

Airscreen

Next up, we have Airscreen in the list. It’s a fairly old app, but after the recent updates, there are some changes on how it works.

So, Airscreen lets you mirror your iPhone, Android or even computer screen to Firestick. To get it, simply search for the app and download it as you are downloading any other app. Once you get the Airscreen app, you can pair that with any other compatible device and start streaming content.

Upon launching AirScreen, you will need to click on the button called Start Now.

Next, locate Settings, simply open it.

Click on the Device Name option.

You will now be asked to enter a name for the Fire TV device.

Click on the OK button.

Now, you will need to access the mobile device. For this case, we’ll use an iPhone. You can tap on the Airplay option and select the Firestick from there.

Of course, it also works the same way for Mac, Android and Windows as well.

Peacock TV

It's free and finally landed on Fire TV in June 2021.

The Peacock app on Fire TVs and Fire tablets is compatible with the entire Fire TV product lineup including Fire TV Stick 4K, Fire TV Stick Lite, and Fire TV smart TV. Customers can use Alexa to launch Peacock, while Alexa integration with titles on Peacock will roll out later this year.

In the free version of Firestick, you can watch up to 1300 hours of free content.

For $5 a month, you can upgrade to unlock those other seasons, movie series installments, and other premium selections. For $10 a month, you can watch it all without ads. But the free plan has plenty to keep you entertained until you hit that wall.

In simple words, Peacock TV free tier will give you the first two seasons of The Office, the first three Harry Potter movies, for free. The point is that the selection is very, very good.

Well, that’s pretty much it. Those were some of the best Fire TV stick apps that are available. If there are any apps that we missed – let us know in the comment section.
